You need to eat as many different types of vegetables as possible. The recommended amount is five pieces of fruit and vegetables a day but when you are losing weight, you should double this. The recommended daily allowance (RDA) is 300 grams of carbs per 2000 calories, about 60% of total calories.

As long as you consume healthy complex carbs it's good for your health, simple carbs like candy and fast food are not good for dieting, also they contain little nutrients.
