 Low-Fat Healthy Cake Recipes



To bake healthy cakes you must use fresh and natural ingredients, and reduce the level of sugar. Here are some healthy cake recipes.

Apple & Cinnamon Muffins
Low-Fat Healthy Cake Recipes
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1-3/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 egg whites
1/2 cup skim milk
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons applesauce
1 medium tart apple, peeled and grated

1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cold butter or margarine
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1/4 cup finely chopped nuts, optional

  • In a bowl, combine the first six ingredients. In another bowl, combine the egg, milk, oil and applesauce. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in apple.
  • Fill greased or paper-lined muffing cups two-thirds full.
  • For topping, combine brown sugar and flour. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in oats and nuts. Sprinkle over muffins.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for five minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack. Serve warm. Yield: 1 dozen
Oatmeal & Coconut Pie
1-1/2 c. milk
3 eggs, lightly beaten
3 tbsp. margarine, melted
2/3 c. rolled oats
1 1/3 c. dark brown sugar
2/3 c. flaked coconut
1 (9 or 10 inch) pie shell, unbaked

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Combine milk, eggs, butter, oats, sugar and coconut in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly with a wire whisk.
  • Pour into pie shell and sprinkle with additional coconut.
  • Bake for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for an additional 30 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool and serve.
